ECS Racing 2011
The 2011 race season promises even more exciting action and innovation from ECS Racing. We've got four riders competing in many different classes running very different machines which will bring as much race experience and technical data back to the shop as possible. At European Cycle Services, we believe that going racing is essential to providing our customers the highest level of expertise and experience, and we hope that you will continue to support our race efforts throughout the season. We want to thank all of our sponsors for their support in 2010 and their continued support in 2011. We couldn't do this without you.
The 2010 season was a huge success, including eight series championship wins, six track championships and two national championships. Following up such a tremendous effort will prove challenging, but we think our riders and machines are more than up to it!
Ian Helmke -
Ian will continue racing in the heavyweight classes this year with his new Ducati 1198. Last year Ian won five championships riding his 996 with a 1026 motor and a 160hp 1098 belonging to Team ECS Member Roger Chang. This year, the 1198 should provide an even more powerful and reliable platform to challenge for the win each and every race. Another change for Ian is moving to Dunlop rubber, which he feels works really well with the 1198 chassis.
Peter Meringolo -
Last year was Pete's first year as a racer and he laid down speed and authority in equal measure with seven championship wins and another four second and third place championships. His bike is something we call The Mutt, and at times last year it proved a bit unruly. Nevertheless, Pete persevered and with the efforts over the winter to smooth out it's issues, the partnership of man and machine should be better than ever. Even though choices were made to reign in the power in exchange for reliability, Pete was within a couple of tenths of his best time during testing and is looking forward to a great year on the bike.
Matthew Parry -
Matt is ready for 2011 with a worked over bike and a solid plan of attack. 2010 may have been a learning year, but the learning quickly gave way to running at the front, including taking the lead in several races at the end of the year. Matt's speed increased as well as his feel for his trusty 900ss and he became a regular podium finisher as well as one of the most relied on members of the team. This year, with some small changes to the bike - both for power and reliability - Matt should be ready to take on any challengers and fight for the win.
Valeriano Sendon -
Val is new to the team for 2011, but he's not new to ECS. One of our closest friends at the shop, Val also happens to be furiously fast and a tough competitor. Riding his Aprilia Mille, he will represent the team in the heavyweight classes and should up at the front in no time. Val also will be bringing his ECS prepped Triumph 675 with him to the track as a backup bike - we'll keep you posted on his insights into the two machines.
We'll have more details as they come. In the meantime, please support our sponsors, check out our calender if you'd like to come out the track and cheer us on, and here are links for those of you that are interested in the details of CCS racing:
